This Too Shall Pass (2012) by Tomorrow Machine

Independent packaging project for perishable goods:

Is it reasonable that it takes several years for a milk carton to decompose naturally, when the milk goes sour after a week? This Too Shall Pass is a series of food packaging were the packaging has the same short life-span as the foods they contain. The package and its content is working in symbiosis.

Smoothie package
Gel of the agar agar seaweed and water are the only components used to make this package. To open it you pick the top. The package will wither at the same speed as its content. It is made for drinks that have a short life span and needs to be refrigerated, fresh juice, smoothies and cream for example.

Rice Package
Package made of biodegradable beeswax. To open it you peel it like a fruit. The package is designed to contain dry goods, for example grains and rice.

Oil package
A package made of caramelized sugar, coated with wax. To open it you crack it like an egg. When the material is cracked the wax no longer protects the sugar and the package melts when it comes in contact with water. This package is made for oil-based food.

The “first man-made biological leaf” could enable humans to colonise space»

if you aren’t hyped about synthetic life and colonizing space then get out of my face

I’m as excited for white people colonizing space as I was for them to colonize literally anything else.Space is for exploring.

the bolded…

China and India literally have space programs.
The US space program is pretty… eh right now. I have no idea what the EU is doing, and Russia is pretty much the only European (well Eurasian here given their own classification) country doing anything in space.
Besides I’m incredibly skeptical we will have the tech and means to colonise in our lifetimes, let alone ever (we could just make space habitations if we really need to), and given global trends maybe in 200 years (if we have the tech THEN) India and China (and possibly/probably several African states/states-yet-to-exist) will be pretty fucking powerful on the world stage. Also Brazil, they might get rich who knows, there are resources there and there is a lot of potential I guess.

What is wrong with white people colonising space though. The problem with traditional colonialism wasn’t the moving from one part of the world to another, but the systematic destruction and exploitation of the natives they found there.
